Sanguine Updates
Since the release of Patch 1.7.4, Sanguine has received a substantial number of updates focused on expanding features, improving gameplay flow, enhancing controller support, refining the user interface, improving localization, and addressing hundreds of reported issues.
Over the last several months, development has focused heavily on quality-of-life improvements, classic camera refinements, player feedback implementation, visual polish, optimization, and expanding accessibility options for both keyboard/mouse and controller users.
Below is a summary of the major changes introduced since Patch 1.7.4.
New Features
Focus Mode
A brand-new feature allowing players to stop and look around from Kris's first-person perspective. Focus Mode can be used to inspect environments, spot items, and get a better sense of surroundings while remaining vulnerable to danger.
Map Zoom
Added the ability to zoom in and out while viewing maps, making navigation and exploration easier.
Breakable Environment Objects
Many wooden crates and pots can now be broken without requiring a weapon, providing faster access to resources.
Inventory Move Function
Added the ability to move and swap inventory items more efficiently.
Challenge Reset System
Players can now reset completed in-game Challenges directly from the Challenges menu.
Expanded Weapon Avatar System
The character equipment display system has been completely rebuilt and now properly supports:
UMP
Crossbow
Landmine
Sawed-Off Shotgun
All Glock variants
Generic Gamepad Support
Added support for a wider range of controllers and improved controller navigation throughout the game.
Survivor Stories Improvements
Several gameplay improvements introduced to the main campaign have now been added to Survivor Stories for greater consistency.
Updates & Polish
Major Classic Camera Overhaul
A large portion of the early game received camera improvements, including:
Forest
Diner
Main Street
Farm
Gas Station
Mobile Homes
These changes reduce awkward transitions, improve visibility, and make important items easier to spot while maintaining the classic survival horror experience.
Main Menu Overhaul
The Main Menu received a complete usability and optimization pass, including:
Native resolution support
Improved responsiveness
Better controller navigation
Improved mouse interactions
Updated visual feedback
Documents & Files Rework
The Files system has been significantly upgraded:
Unique background artwork for document categories
New document fonts
Improved readability
Additional viewing options
Updated navigation controls
Improved Tutorials
Several tutorial entries were rewritten and expanded to better explain gameplay systems, controls, and navigation.
UI & Controller Improvements
Numerous improvements were made across:
Inventory
Journal
Storage Containers
Save Screens
Maps
Pause Menus
Keybinding Displays
Audio Improvements
Several audio inconsistencies, missing sound effects, volume issues, and transition-related problems were corrected.
Character Animation Updates
Adjusted idle animation timing and improved visual consistency across multiple characters.
Visual Improvements
Numerous visual polish updates were made throughout the game, including:

Environment cleanup
Collision refinements
Improved camera transitions
UI readability enhancements
Bug Fixes
Since Patch 1.7.4, hundreds of issues have been addressed throughout Sanguine:

Fixed multiple progression blockers.
Fixed various interaction prompts displaying incorrectly.
Fixed challenge tracking issues.
Fixed achievement unlock problems.
Fixed poison status behavior after scene transitions.
Fixed landmine trigger inconsistencies.
Fixed weapon collision and hit detection issues.
Fixed inventory selection bugs.
Camera & Navigation
Fixed numerous camera transition issues.
Fixed camera lock situations.
Fixed player clipping locations.
Fixed scene transition problems between multiple areas.
User Interface
Fixed controller legends across multiple screens.
Fixed journal navigation issues.
Fixed map legend functionality.
Fixed save screen display issues.
Fixed menu interaction bugs.
Fixed document display inconsistencies.
Survivor Stories
Fixed challenge progression issues.
Fixed unlock conditions.
Fixed status effect behavior.
Added feature parity improvements from the main campaign.
Performance & Stability
Reduced several sources of unnecessary processing.
Optimized menu systems.
Improved avatar system performance.
Addressed a variety of rare stability issues.
Localization Updates
Localization has continued to receive significant attention:
Additional French translations
Additional German translations
Additional Spanish translations
Improved Russian support
Translation corrections across tutorials, journals, files, menus, and interaction prompts
Localized item names
Localized status messages
Localized Fabricator recipes
Improved controller-specific instructions
Many remaining English strings have also been identified and corrected throughout the game.
Known Issues
The following issues are currently known and under investigation:
Controller Rebinding
Some controller rebinding scenarios may not update every legend icon immediately until reopening the menu.
Rare Camera Edge Cases
A small number of classic camera transitions may still occasionally produce less-than-ideal viewing angles.
Focus Mode Sensitivity
Focus Mode currently shares sensitivity behavior with existing camera settings. Additional customization options are planned.
Miscellaneous Localization Issues
A small number of translated strings may still appear in English or contain formatting inconsistencies depending on language selection.

Patch 1.7 Hotfixes
Following the launch of Patch 1.7, we’ve rolled out a series of hotfixes focused on stability, localization, controller support, and overall polish.
Below is a full breakdown of everything included across Hotfixes 1.7.1 through 1.7.4.
Additions
Added the ability to reset Challenges from the Challenges menu.
This clears completed in-game Challenges.
Survivor Stories will be locked again if previously unlocked.
Steam achievement progress will not be reset.
Added a temporary Main Menu reminder that Patch 1.7 requires a new save file.
Added a second page to the Main Menu News section.
Added controller legends to the Radio screen and Fabricator.
Added the Keycard Half as a Forest map icon until it has been picked up.
Added RB controller/gamepad support for turning pages when viewing files.
Localization Fixes
Localized various remaining English text across Main St., Mobile Homes, the Farmhouse, Gas Station, Diner, Fabricator, Blood Shop, Survivor Stories, and Main Menu.
Fixed multiple French, German, and Spanish translation issues across newspapers, tutorials, Journal entries, Fabricator prompts, and Blood Shard text.
Localized several interaction prompts, including:
Axe, Bolt Cutters, Crowbar, Floppy Disk, Keycard, Lighter, X-Redox Use
Farm Gate choices
Save Room computers
Locked doors and case prompts
Card reader messages
Blood Shop confirmations
Controller & UI Fixes
Fixed Map Legend toggle support on gamepad.
Fixed LB/RB support for generic gamepads in the Journal.
Improved Storage Container navigation, including looping back to the first slot after reaching the bottom.
Fixed POI continue prompts not updating correctly when using a controller.
Updated Auto Sort button placement.
Fixed Save Game screen controller legend.
Fixed Game Over screen legend spacing and positioning when localized.
Fixed Fabricator text spacing issues when localized.
Pause Menu UI selection now saves between sessions.
Controller Support Note:
Currently, Xbox controllers are fully supported. Broader support for generic gamepads is being added over time, with the goal of fully supporting both generic gamepads and PlayStation controllers by full release.
Gameplay & Interaction Fixes
Fixed New Game+ flags sometimes being active when they shouldn’t be.
Fixed crawler body collision issues.
Updated the Dillon boss fight so it can no longer be avoided by running backwards.
Mines now spawn behind the player at checkpoints to encourage progression.
Fixed enemy detection issues when standing on broken boxes in both the Main Campaign and Survivor Stories.
Fixed the Red Fuse sometimes being picked up through a wall.
Fixed the Break Room Door opening when it shouldn’t.
Fixed Diner Kitchen map item list not updating properly.
Fixed Farmhouse bathroom door sometimes doing nothing.
Fixed Farmhouse 2nd floor body not staying removed after being cleared.
Fixed Eli boss cutscene using the wrong camera in Modern Mode.
Audio Fixes
Fixed Big Mama’s audio overlapping if the player activated Offer Statues before speaking with her.
Known Issue
The ranking system may not properly calculate total playtime. This is currently being investigated and will be addressed in a future update.
Looking Ahead
Challenges menu updates, Survivor Stories updates, and new achievements are still on the horizon.

12/15/25: Sanguine Developer Interview
I recently had the opportunity to sit down with DSurvivalHorror for an interview focused on Sanguine, its development journey, and the inspirations behind the game.
During the interview, we talk about drawing from classic 90’s survival horror titles, how Sanguine blends old-school tension with modern design, and what players can expect from the game now that it’s available in Early Access on Steam.
